
Born n bred in London and exposed to music from an early age, Steve’s sound has developed and evolved over the years to encompass all styles of House. His talent derives from mastering the art of mixing from the early age of 15, it’s these skills that have taken him from London to his first international residency in Cyprus and on to tour the globe.
Not one to be stuck behind the decks. Steve is involved in event promotion, in which he has also experienced similar high levels of success. Since the year 2000 Steve has built up many club brands including Squeeeze, Funkylicious, Funky4love and Another Wild Night, some of have featured at some of the worlds top venues including Ministry of Sound (London), Pacha, Turnmills, The Castle Club, Babylon Superclub while also securing top-level international artists to-boot.
By 2007 Richards was running all marketing and promotions for the largest club in Cyprus, the Castle Club, alongside his 4-year DJ residency at the same venue. Weekly his brand Another Wild Night regularly drew 1,000+ people during the summer season, making them some of the most popular events on the island. With the Steve Richards name starting to span the globe, leading DJ equipment manufacturer Pioneer, were quick to sit up and take notice, and sponsored Richards events as his career continues to take-off.
Steve has also been stepping into the competitive world of music production, forming the musical partnership Elektrik Disko with New Zealand-born Jolyon Petch and most recently with Jon Fitz.
Remix work has already been completed for several big names including Agnelli & Nelson and the Soul Avengerz, with releases on Deep Blue and Soda Records. Collaborations with other well-known artists such as Katherine Ellis, Peyton & Maxi C are also under way, Steve has also been know to draft in the associated artist to perform his latest releases live in the Castle Club.
As expected 2009 kicked off with one heck of a bang, not only was Another Wild Night given a bi-monthly residency at Londons Ministry of Sound, Steve Richards was handed the reigns to manage all events and promotions for the latest and greatest Superclub to hit the coast of Cyprus, Babylon! Steve will continue to manage and serve as resident DJ for Babylons sister venue The Castle Club, while also drafting in the likes of Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Mark Knight, Sander Kleinenberg, Tall Paul and more to his 2009 roster in association with Ministry of Sound Tours, Meganite & The Gallery.
On the production front things are equally as exciting. A release of the remix If you want my love feat Maxi C out on Soda records hit the No 1 spot on djdownload.coms top 100 new releases in its first week. At the time of release it also stood as the 4th all time best selling track on Soda Records (aka Strictly Rhythm). Steve has diversified his production to include several originals tracks soon to be released on Jolyon’s Luxury records.
Now moving into the world of training to aid tomorrows future heros branch out in the clubbing scene, Richards has recently founded the Ayia Napa DJ Academy & with his many years in the industry & insurmountable contacts the Ayia Napa DJ Academy promises to offer todays budding DJ the skills and ability to step up to competitive world of DJ’ing.
As we move into 2015 Steve and the Castle Club once again acquire another Top 100 Club spot for Castle Club adding to the 5 awards they already own, Also working on another heavy weight summer line up for the venue and international bookings coming up in Austria, Lebanon so far not forgetting his annual visit to the main room in Ministry of Sound London.
