London born Sam Dines, otherwise known as DJ D-Drop remembers the first time he ever laid eyes on a pair of decks ” It was round my mates house when I was about 15. Back then I was really into my pure garage albums by DJ EZ and my mate was pulling out these garage tunes and having a mix. He let me have a go and immediately I was hooked”. Not long after this he picked up his first pair of turntables and locked himself in his room just playing the same few records he bought over and over again.

In the early 2000’s DJ D-Drop found himself drawn to the genre of drum and bass, and with this his vinyl collection rapidly grew as did his technical skills on the decks. Known for double dropping tunes (where the name D-Drop was given to him) he managed to get himself a few local gigs where his reputation began to grow as one of the most exciting DJ’s in the area. With his fast beat matching skills and ability to read the crowd, it was never going to be long until he branched out and hit clubs all over the UK.

Playing clubs on a regular basis and with a strong group of DJ’s behind him, he decided it was time to start his own night, and Redemption was born. From day one Redemption was a massive success and managed to draw some of the biggest crowds the venue had seen on a monthly basis.

After playing some of the best clubs in the UK, he was asked to go over to the med club capital of Ayia Napa. Asked to play all genres of music might be daunting for some DJ’s but DJ D-Drop took to his task with ease and a with a style not heard before in the area using some of the techniques he had learnt from his drum and bass days. Playing at a small bar near the centre of the strip for the summer, it didn’t take long before people took notice of him and he was asked over to the number one club in Cyprus, The Castle Club.

Having played some of the best clubs in the world including Fabric, Ministry of Sound, The Egg, Castle Club and playing with some of the top DJ’s in the world with the likes of Chase & Status, Judge Jules, Matt Darey, and a warm up set for Andy C to name a few, this DJ is definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.
